Employment History in Brief

1995 to present: Independent photographer, writer, editor, producer, teacher and consultant. Clients range from families to international corporations. New specialties in wildlife, nature, landscapes and travel, building on previous work with lifestyle and action. Extensive work with visual arts groups to protect copyright, standardize licensing and digital workflow, and educate photographers in realistic business practices. Contract editor for several organizations and photographers. Visiting artist residencies have included all ages and levels, from pre-K to post-grad.

1990-1995: Writer/photographer for CCS/PR Inc. of Carlsbad, Calif., producing case history articles and marketing materials for technology and imaging clients.

1989-1990: Managing editor of Enterprise Monthly and editor of Hilton Head Monthly; photographer, writer and page designer for both start ups.

1988-1989: Freelance work, including journalism and PR clients, and management of MicroPress desktop publishing on Hilton Head Island. Also worked a three-month contract as account representative for the Hilton Head Island office of Chernoff-Silver & Associates, an advertising and marketing agency.

1987-1988: Managing editor of the Beaufort (S.C.) Gazette.

1985-1987: Sunday editor of the Savannah (Ga.) Morning News and Evening Press.

1984-1985: Copy editor for the Birmingham (Ala.) Post-Herald.

1983-1984: Graduate student and assistant to the Office of Public Information, Ohio University. Thesis studied adoption of online graphics formats.

1979-1983: Staff photographer, for the Bartlesville (Okla.) Examiner-Enterprise, the Hutchinson (Ks.) News, The San Juan Examiner (Telluride, Colo., which Greg also planned, designed, launched and edited), and The Salina (Ks.) Journal.

1975-1979: While a Visual Communication student at Ohio University, helped establish the Athens News as a weekly fixture. Interned at the Fayetteville (N.C.) Observer-Times and the Prince George’s County (Md.) Sentinel.
