Tricolored Heron: A tricolored heron perches on a snag in a May River marsh. I approached this snag from around a bend in the marsh creek on a dropping tide, surprised to find several birds perched there. Other birds flew, but this young one stayed to give me a picture for my birthday. 2003 (Tricolor 9799)
