A gallende jumper crosses the tails of his skis as he soars over the Misty Maiden slope in Telluride, Colo., just above Goronno Lodge. Still recovering from knee surgery, I lay in the snow for hours to catch this picture, which shows the moment before a very rough landing. (032882-40)
